Former Chairman Of TUC Executive Board Passes Away

The death is reported of Mr. David Egyir, a former chairman of the executive board of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) and a retired Personnel and Services Manager of VALCO, at Tema on Tuesday, January 22.

The late Egyir was a member of the Constituent Assembly that drafted the Constitution of the Second Republic of Ghana and was honoured with a grand medal (Civil Division) by the state in 1968.

The TUC also honoured him in 1995, for his meritorious service as chairman of the executive board during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the congress.

A statement issued on behalf of the Ebiradze family of Apam on Wednesday announced the funeral arrangement as follows:

There will be no wake keeping but the body would be laid in state at 0600 hours on Saturday, February 16, 2002 at his residence at Apam.

Burial and thanksgiving service would be followed the same day at 0900 hour at the Methodist Church at Apam.
