Former 4BN Commander laid to rest

Juaben (Ash), Sept. 13, GNA – The mortal remains of the late Lieutenant Colonel Richard Amponsem-Boateng, former Commander of the Fourth Infantry of Brigade (4BN) in Kumasi was laid to rest at Juaben in Ashanti on Saturday.

The late Colonel Amponsem-Boateng, 46, died at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra on August 4, this year after a short illness. Present at the final funeral rites and burial ceremony were Brigadier-General Blay, Chief of Army Staff, Service Commanders, officers and men of the Ghana armed forces, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Opoku Manu, Nana Otuo Serebour, Juabenhene, religious leaders and politicians from across the political divide. Tributes read by the military, the family, the children and the friends, described the late Commander as a humble, dedicated and a respectable serviceman who serve his nation well. The Late Colonel Amponsem-Boateng was posted to the 4BN in August 2008 as the Rear Commander and confirmed as the second in Command in November, the same year. He was later appointed as the Commanding officer of the Unit on December 31 2008. He left behind a wife and three children.
