Forestry Commission to resist imposition of union on them

Akyawkrom (Ash), Jan 27, GNA – Staff of the three divisions and units of the Forestry Commission (FC) have vowed to resist attempts by any entity to impose any union on them.

The division and units include the Timber Industry Development Division (TIDD), Forests Services Division (FSD), Wildlife Division (WD) and Resource Management Support Centre, FC Corporate Headquarters and the College of Renewable Natural Resources.

They re-affirmed their loyalty and support for the Timber and Woodworkers Union where they say they legitimately belong. The division’s resistance was contained in a five-point resolution adopted at the end of the second national delegates’ congress of the House Union of the FC of the Timber and Woodworkers Union of the TUC held at Akyawkrom in the Ejisu-Juaben district on Thursday.

About 2,300 delegates and observers attended the congress from the regions, 47 forestry districts and seven conservative parks. The resolution said the decision to join a union is “our fundamental human rights and we have decided to join the Timber and Woodworkers Union of TUC”.
