Forest Services Division launches education campaign

Nkawie (Ash), Sept 10, GNA- The Nkawie District Forest Services Division of the Forestry Commission has launched an intensive educational campaign in fringe communities to stamp out illegal timber operations.

Mr Nelson Amelordzi, the Nkawie District Forest Manager who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview said the exercise would check illegal farming, chain sawing, logging and canoe construction in the forest reserves.

He said his outfit was blocking roads in the reserve, which were being used by the illegal timber operators.

He condemned the activities of some hunters who connive with the illegal timber operators to carry on with their nefarious activities.
