Nationals of neighbouring countries living along the country’s borders have been warned to desist from procuring Ghanaian photo identity cards with the intention of voting in the general election on December 7.
Mr Chou-en-lai Paul Ankomah, National Reform Party (NRP) parliamentary candidate for Dormaa West, who gave the warning, called on the government to take adequate measures to discourage such foreigners from dabbling in Ghana’s politics.
“Reports during my campaign tour of some border towns in the constituency speak of foreigners being encouraged by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for the area to procure photo ID cards.
“Even though many of them have no thumb printed ID cards, these foreigners manage to procure photo ID cards,” Mr Ankomah alleged
He said nobody should blame the people when they prevent such foreigners from voting on election day.
