Foreign Minister leaves for Washington

Accra, Oct 17, GNA – Mr. Akwasi Osei-Adjei, Minister of Foreign Affairs left Accra this evening for Washington, USA to attend the annual general meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. In a pre-departure interview with journalists, Mr Osei-Adjei said Ghana will be delivering a paper during the meeting and lead a brain storming session of economic development assistance and regional integration strategy for Sub-Saharan Africa.

From Washington, Mr Osei-Adjei would continue to New York, where he would chair the October Session of the UN Security Council. The Foreign Minister is expected to introduce a motion for global discussions on women empowerment, peace and security during the Session. Ghana is holding the rotating presidency of the Security Council this month.

Mr Osei-Adjei is expected to be away for 10 days.
