Foreign Minister leaves for Liberia

Accra, March 4, GNA – Nana Akufo-Addo, Minister for Foreign Affairs, left Accra on Thursday on a four-day visit to Liberia to assess the status of the implementation of the Accra Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

He would join other Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Foreign Ministers and the Chief Mediator, General Abdulsalami Abubakar on the monitoring mission in line with a decision taken at the ECOWAS Foreign Ministers meeting held in Accra in January, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made available to the GNA on Friday said.

The combined visit of the Chief Mediator and the Foreign Ministers was expected to send a strong signal to the Liberian factions of the continued commitment of ECOWAS in ensuring that the Liberia Peace Process was successfully implemented, it said.
