Footballer remanded for alleged disinterment of a body

Cape Coast May 12, GNA – Kweku Ahmed, a 28-year-old footballer was on Friday remanded by a circuit court at Cape Coast for alleged disinterment of a body.

Ahmed pleaded not guilty to disinterment of a dead body, resisting arrest and assaulting public officer and would reappear on May 26. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh that on April 13 a policeman who was returning from night duty heard an unusual noise in a thicket near the cemetery. When he got close he saw Ahmed and an accomplice now at large digging a grave.

They took to their heels but the policeman arrested Ahmed who struggled with, assaulted him and tore his uniform.
