Hohoe (V/R), Aug. 9, GNA – The All-Age Development Centre (ADEC), a non-profit organisation, promoting community empowerment through collective income generation activities has launched a food processing and security project for women groupings in the Fodome Traditional Area in the Hohoe District.
A total of 75 women, who are predominantly farmers, selected from Fodome-Helu, Hloma and Ahor benefited from a day’s orientation workshop at Hohoe on Tuesday.
The project, which received sponsorship from GORTA, an Irish non-governmental organisation, was aimed at improving the income levels of rural women for economic sufficiency. Mr Patrick K. Ahumah, Executive Director of ADEC, said the orientation was to explain the project details and solicit views from the groups towards developing a strategic and sustainable implementation plan.
He called on the women groups to be committed to the ideals of the project to improve on their socio-economic status and self-sustenance. Mr Ahumah said ADEC would in the future support the women groups to set up small-scale credit unions to enable them to expand their farming activities.
