FONKAR Gives Sure Bankers to Konadu

Single 3-1-90

BY AYISHETU SULLEY,Daily Democrat

The outcome of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) congress last Saturday has
vindicated critics of Nana Konadu who believed her campaign team was made up of
some gold diggers who were out to milk her.
According to critics, the tantrums and bragging of Owusu Bempah, the wild
allegations and propaganda of Herbert Mensah, the Dela Kofi and Kofi Adams’
divided loyalty could only secure for Nana Konadu votes that could best be
described as ‘Lotto Number’ for a Saturday draw,90 out of total 2861 votes,
representing 3.1%.
Pre-congress utterances by Friends of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings (FONKAR) has
predicted 65-67% victory for the candidate but she could not cross a 5% mark.
They also promised to re-write Professor Mills ‘political obituary’ because of
his defeat and shock.

Though the pre-voting environment at Coronation Park on Saturday morning was
reason enough to see Konadu’s defeat, the 90 votes was too heartbreaking for
Konadu and followers.

It is now obvious that most of the followers of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings who
were making pre-congress resolutions were mere supporters and not delegates.
Nana Konadu, who has no choice but to accept defeat is compelled to join the
winning Mills team to celebrate victory and rally together against the
opposition.

Konadu, though defeated has made name in the political history of Ghana as the
first woman to contest for the position of flagbearer and more importantly
contesting a sitting president.

Observers believe 2016 could have been a better period for such decision and
wished her better luck next time.
