Floods disrupts farming activities in some Ga West

Ashalaja (GAR), June 05, GNA – River Densu has caused floods at Ashalaja and nearby communities in the Ga West District, due to heavy rains at the weekend.

More than 200 hectares of maize farms at Ashalaja, Ayikai Dobro, Obaakora and surrounding villages in the district had been submerged in the floods.

This has also brought transportation of foodstuffs from the area to marketing centres to a standstill.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Nii Akwanor III, chief of Ashalaja, appealed to NADMO to come to the aid of the people. He also appealed to the Department of Feeder Roads to rehabilitate the road and raise the only suspension bridge, which is over the river, after the flood has subsided.
