Floods claim life

Brakwa (C/R), May 7, GNA – A two-year-old orphan, Yaw Tabiri, was on last Thursday retrieved from a gutter near a rubbish dump at Ohenpronosto street or Odonton after he had been trapped to death by floods at Brakwa.

The body was deposited at the Breman Asikuma Catholic hospital by the police and the family members for autopsy.

Briefing the GNA, Madam Asi Abuaah who was at the scene said that the deceased was in a company of two other age group family members. She said when they were wading through the rains they attempted to cross the gutter behind her house when she saw that one of them had slipped into the gutter, while the others were weeping and shivering behind the gutter.

She said she accompanied the children to the relatives to report the incident.

A search party was organised and body of the boy, who had lost both parents, was retrieved from a distance of about 300 metres from the place of the incident.
