Sanguli, Nov. 8, GNA – World Vision Ghana with support from its counterpart in the US, has donated relief items worth GH¢ 13, 000 to Saboba District Assembly for distribution to 500 floods victims in the area.
The items, which include; large quantity of maize, rice, beans, vegetable oil, blankets, sleeping mats and treated mosquito nets would go the victims at Sanguli, Sobiba and Garinmata Bator whose farms were destroyed by the recent floods in the Northern Region.
The Manager of Saboba-Chereponi World Vision Area Development Programme, Mr. Clement Wumlara Yakubu presented the relief items to the District Chief Executive Mr. John Adolf Ali at Sanguli near Saboba.
Mr. Yakubu said World Vision as a child focused organisation would continue to provide support and strengthen the capacity of the assembly to ensure the well-being and safety of Children.
He said next year, the Area Development Programme of World Vision would effect measures to reduce the impact of disasters on people in the communities, particularly children.
Mr. Yakubu said the impact of climate change on the weather pattern called for a comprehensive approach to development initiatives.
The District Chief Executive Mr. John Adolf Ali handed over the items to the National Disaster Management Organisation for distribution to the victims.
He expressed appreciation to World Vision for the donation and appea= led for support to end the water crisis facing Saboba. The Chief of Sanguli Obor Delafh commended World Vision for the donation. He appealed to the Department of Feeder Road to rehabilitate the road linking Saboba and Chereponi to facilitate travelling on the stretch especially during the rainy season.
