Five years over 50 pesewas Akpeteshie debt

Aflao, May 10, GNA – Bulla Azumah, a 46-year-old unemployed who severely assaulted a woman who demanded a debt of 50 Ghana Pesewas being the cost of Akpetshie he credited from her, had been jailed five years in hard labour by an Aflao circuit court. He pleaded guilty.

Mr Akwasi Asafo-Agyei, Deputy Superintendent of Police, told the court that and Madam Dangoe Wonuakor, an Akpeteshi seller, reside at Azumah Kope near Wheta.

He said in June 2009, the convict bought the liquor on credit from the complainant but failed to pay.

Mr Asafo-Agyei said Mad Wonuakor met Azumah in March this year and demanded payment for the liquor but Azumah took offence and heckled her, insisting the he had paid her long ago.

He said as Mad Wonuakor insisted he had not paid her, Azumah punched her several times on the jaw and she lost two teeth.
