Five workers of Pioneer Food Cannery die in motor accident

Tema, May 4, GNA – Two more workers of the Pioneer Food Cannery (PFC) at Tema who were involved in a fatal accident that occurred on the Accra-Tema beach road in the early hours of Thursday have died bringing the total number of the dead to five.

Three of them died on the spot, while the other two died later at the Tema General Hospital (TGH), Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP) Prosper Amoah Ayisi, Tema Regional MTTU Commander told the GNA.

He said 12 of them who were in a critical condition were on admission at the TGH while 33 of them had been treated and discharged. The Kingdom Transport Services bus with the registration number GR 6477 E from Nungua, which was conveying the workers collided with a Leyland Cargo truck with registration number GT 2395 V carrying 400 bags of cement from Tema towards Accra.
