Five To Contest Sunayni West NPP Primaries

Space FM, Sunayni – If there are no change of minds, five people would contest the Sunyani West NPP parliamentary primaries in an attempt to take over from veteran legislator Hon. Kwadwo Adjei Darko, who is bowing out after twelve years in parliament.

The parliamentary aspirants are, Hon. Evelyn Adarkwa Frema, Assemby Member for the Gubre Electoral Area and Proprietress of St Declan Schools, Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, Professor Amoateng, a South African based Economist, Dr Adu Mensah, a Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Mr Pesewu of the Baduman Rural Bank, Sunayni.

Some 107 delegates are bracing up to select the candidate who would retain the seat for the NPP. Chiraa – 17 delegates, Odumase – 27delegates, Fiapre and Dumasua – 19 delgates and Nsoatre -34 delegates are the wards under the Sunyani West Contituency.

Hon. Frema, who was the first to pick nomination forms, also becomes the first female to contest for any parliamentary seat in Sunayni. She appears to be enjoying great support from the constituency with Odumase and Chiraa as her strongest support base.

Mr Baffour Awuah, stands very tall among the contenders judging from his performances as the former Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, Deputy Regional minister before assuming the seat as the regional minister.

Though he is yet to pick his nomination forms, many believe the astute politician has everything under his sleeves to sail through the primaries.

He probably is the most relaxed candidate and no one can fault him for that because he is the giant in the race.

Not much has been seen or heard from Prof. Amoateng apart from his last Friday’s tactical donation of computers and accessories to the regional office of the NPP.

Space FM has learnt Dr Mensah could not excite executives of Chiraa with his scientific methods of agriculture.

Mr Pesewu the banker may only be adding up to the numbers or in to spoil the party for some contenders.
