Five suspects escape from cells

Five suspects who were remanded by the Circuit Court at Mpraeso for various offences have escaped from the Mpraeso police cells.

Kawaka Manu, Kabana Nkansah, Kwadwo Nkansah, Mumuni Seidu and Kudjo Dakudzi were remanded for stealing and possessing fake currencies.

According to the Mpraeso District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Osei Asibey Ahenkan, at 1530 hours on May 18 this year, when Police Constable Dora Nortsu was on duty at the Charge Office, inmates of the cell started shouting and complained of hunger.

He said Constable Nortsu went to buy some food for the suspects but on his return he realised that they have escaped through a hole.

Chief Superintendent Ahenkan said it was later found out that portion of the toilet had been broken and the latrine pan removed.

He appealed to the general public to assist the police in apprehending the suspects.
