Five remanded over murder of Assembly Member

A Kumasi circuit court, presided over by Mrs Afua Adu-Amankwaah, has remanded five persons arrested over the murder of an assembly member.

The deceased, Samuel Akwasi Frimpong, was shot dead in his car at Atwima-Techiman on March 24. He was driving into his house when the assassins struck.

The accused, Kofi Gyimah, Kwasi Agyei, Kwadwo Owusu, Abdulai Yusif and Kwasi Sebe are facing charges of murder and conspiracy to steal. They pleaded not guilty. Their three other accomplices, whose names were not given by the prosecutor, are on the run.

Police Inspector D’almeida Sylvanus said all the accused persons lived at Atwima-Techiman and went into hiding after murdering Frimpong and breaking into his house to steal cash of GH¢60,500. They were arrested from their hideouts following police investigations.
