Five pregnant JSS girls could not write BECE

Manso-Nkwanta (Ash.), April 25, GNA – Five pregnant final year junior secondary school girls in the Amansie West District could not write the just ended Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Miss Mizpa Addai of the Manso Abiram D/A JSS, one of the girls, gave birth before the examination began.

The others attended the Subriso, Nnipankyeremia and Asarekrom Local JSS.

These came to light during a tour of some of the examination centres by Mrs Beatrice Prempeh, the District Director of Education, on the last day of the BECE.

In all, 17 candidates who registered for the examination in the area failed to show up.

Mrs Prempeh expressed satisfaction with the conduct of this year’s BECE and said she was hopeful that pupils in the district would do well.
