Five persons injured over disputed land

There was a near bloodbath at Ntankoful, a farming community in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, over a disputed land that degenerated into an open-fight between two families on Monday.

Some of the litigants involved in the scuffle sustained deep cutlass wounds in the process.

About five persons sustained various degrees of injuries and were admitted at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital for treatment.

The Takoradi District Divisional Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Huseini Mohammed Awinaba confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday but could not provide the names of the victims.

He said he dispatched police personnel to the scene to calm the situation.

The District Police Commander noted that, those injured were allowed to go to the hospital for treatment after which they would be interrogated and those found culpable would be prosecuted.**
