Five perish in accident at Adansi

Adansi, May 6, GNA – Four passengers travelling on a bus were killed on the spot and another died later at the hospital when the bus veered off the road, crashed into an electricity pole and somersaulted at Adansi, near Breku, in the Asante-Akim South District.

Afia Ataa, 52, and Abiba Fuseini, 32, were the only two among the dead to have been identified.

The accident left 15 injured and were taken to the Juaso District Hospital.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Anthony Appiah, the Juaso District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that the bus was travelling from Kumasi to Accra on Thursday morning. It veered off the road and hit the electricity pole as the driver attempted to avoid collision with a vehicle that was overtaking another vehicle.
