Five brothers appear in court for assaulting teacher

Sekondi, July 10, GNA – Five brothers at Wassa Domama in the Mpohor Wassa East District in the Western Region on Monday appeared before a Sekondi District Magistrate’s court, for assaulting a teacher in the community.

The plea of the accused persons, who are all farmers at Adukrom cottage were not taken and were each granted five million cedis bail with one surety to re-appear on July 31.

They are George Larbi, Samuel Odoi Larbi, David Kono, Seth Larbi and Emmanuel Addo.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Andam Okyere said on June 23, this year, the son of George Larbi, aged about six years attended school and was punished by Ben Bright Caique, his teacher for wrongdoing. He said the child went home and informed his father, who in the company of the other four accused persons went to the house of Mr Caique and assaulted him.

Inspector Okyere said some youth in the community went to the rescue of Mr Caique and escorted him and the accused persons to the chief’s palace.

He said the chief and his elders detained the accused persons and informed the Police, who arrested and charged them with the offence after investigation.
