Five arrested by police for posing as DFP agents

Agona-Nkwanta (W/R), Dec.7, GNA – Five people who posed as party agents for the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) at separate polling stations have been arrested by the police. The suspects whose names were not disclosed were arrested at Miamia and Gyamera polling stations in the Ahanta West constituency when the party’s candidate Madam Comfort Amoo denied that they were accredited party agents.

Each of them produced introductory letters purported to have been signed by the party’s General Secretary, Mr Bede Zieden. When contacted by the Ghana News Agency, Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge of Kwesimintsim, Mr Sam Magnus Reindurf confirmed the arrests.

He said the five suspects who were detained at the Agona-Nkwanta police station briefly were granted bail while investigations continue. Meanwhile, voting that had generally been peaceful and orderly in all the 257 polling stations in the four electoral areas in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis has ended. Reports from other parts of the Western Region also indicate that voting was generally peaceful and people were trooping to collation centres to witness counting of ballots.
