Five armed robbers remanded

Five alleged armed robbers, two of them women, have been ordered by a Kumasi Circuit Court, presided over by Mr William Boampong, to be held in police custody.

Emmanuel Ofori, alias “Inusah”, 25, Kofi Kyei Baffour, 22, Yaw Addae Akereku, 21, Elizabeth Konadu, 21, and Anima Lardi, 25, are said to be members of a robbery gang, operating at Ohwim and other nearby Atwima-Kwanwoma communities.

They are charged with conspiracy, causing unlawful damage, unlawful entry, assault and robbery.

Their pleas were not taken and they would make their next court appearance on August 24.

Police Inspector Gulliver Kwabena Tenkorang said they had attacked and robbed a building contractor, Justice Opoku Dankwa, and Kwame Frimpong, a trader, of cash totaling GH¢5,600.00 together with other valuables, including cellular phones and I-pads, between the 4th and 5th of August this year

They also gagged and beat up their victims.

The accused were arrested at a hotel, where they have been hiding at Abrepo Highways and part of the stolen cash, retrieved.
