Fishermen To Set Up Social Security – Nii Abeo Kyerekuanda

Accra,(Greater Accra Region) 14 Oct. The Ghana National Canoe Fishermen Council is to set up a social security fund for its members who have become old, Nii Abeo Kyerekuanda the fourth, executive secretary of the Council, said today. Speaking at the swearing in of three members of the council in Accra, he said in doing so, the council would consult with other institutions “whose working objectives are similar to ours”. He said the rationale of the fund is to provide financial support for a large number of fishermen who have become old and destitute. “There is the obvious need to provide financial support for them in recognition of the hard work they did and the sacrifices they made to keep the industry on its feet”. The members sworn in are Nii Adjieteh Marku the third of Tema , Nii Lantei Akumah of Osu and Nii E. N. Abayateye of Ashaiman.
