Fishermen got drowned during fishing expedition

Aflao, Dec. 22, GNA – Two fishermen were reported drowned in separate incidents while on fishing expeditions with their fishing groups last week at Agavedzi and Amutinu, coastal communities in the Ketu District. They are Clement Sewornu, 20 from Amutinu and Courage Agbelengor Kumasenu, 35 from Agavedzi.

Mr. Baba Moro, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in-charge of crime at Aflao told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that Kumasenu got drowned at about 1140 hours when he was entangled in the fishing net his group was pulling out of the sea.

Mr. Moro said, Sewornu also got drowned when he swam into the sea to re-arrange the net being pulled ashore at Amutinu by his group at 1440 hours, adding that his body was found ashore in Lome Togo the third day.

Mr. Moro said the police have handed over the bodies of the deceased to the respective families for burial after autopsy
