Fisherman jailed two years for stealing soap

Cape Coast, Sept. 4, GNA- A Cape Coast circuit Court presided over by Mr Kwame Essel on Thursday sentenced Kwesi Osumanu, a 25-year-old fisherman from Anaafo in Cape Coast, to two years’ imprisonment with hard labour for stealing assorted soaps belonging to one Madam Cecilia Abu.

Osumanu pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful entry and stealing.

The prosecution said the complainant who is a petty trader left the soap in her room and left for town.

He said on her return she could not find the soap.

The prosecution said Madam Abu became alarmed and while making enquires, she had information that Osumanu has been arrested with soaps and has been sent to the police station where she followed and identified the items as hers.
