A 49-year-old fisherman, Samuel Armah, popularly known as Kofi Nyan, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison with hard labour by the Cape Coast Circuit Court.
Samuel Armah’s conviction followed his guilty plea to defiling a 13-year-old girl in Mumford, a community in the Central Region.
According to a press statement from the Central Regional Police Command dated October 29, 2025, the incident occurred on October 16, 2025.
Reports however indicate that the accused lured the young girl into a ghetto in Mumford, where he committed the crime cheered up by four friends, which was later captured in a viral video.
“On 28/10/2025, the defilement case … was called at Circuit Court Two, Cape Coast, presided over by Her Honour Nana Aba Quiba Nunoo. The accused person pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement and he was convicted on his own plea and sentenced to serve ten (10) years imprisonment in hard labour,” the statement said.
The victim was first taken to St. Luke Catholic Hospital for medical examination and treatment before the matter was referred to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Central Region.
During investigations at DOVVSU, Armah confessed to the offence and was subsequently sent to Ankaful Prison to begin serving his term.
Meanwhile, the Police have since urged residents of Mumford and nearby communities to help in locating four accomplices—identified as Agoogo, Edina, Kwesi Abbam, and Agya Ankoto—who are still on the run.
