Fisherman gets 36 months for locking up and thrashing mother

Aflao, Nov 24, GNA – Vincent Sosu, 41, a fisherman who locked up her 75-year-old mother in a room and thrashed her has been jailed 36 months by a circuit court at Aflao.

He pleaded guilty to causing harm.

Mr Valentine Adabrah, Police Inspector at Keta, told the court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri that the accused lived in the same house with his mother, Adugba Vomawor, at Kedzi near Keta.

He said Sosu had many times attacked his mother verbally without provocation and ignored the advice of his ailing 81-year-old father to reform.

Mr Adabrah said on November 5 he again started insulting the mother in the early hours of the day, followed her to her room and locked the door.

Mr Debrah said Sosu picked a stick and beat her, injhuring her.
