First water forum to be held in October

Accra, July 7, GNA – The Ministry of Water Resources Works and Housing in collaboration with other sponsors including UNICEF would organise a water and sanitation forum from October 6 to 8, 2009. The first Ghana Water and Sanitation Forum would be on the theme: “From Strategy to Reality: Priority Actions for Achieving the MDGs in Water and Sanitation”.

Mr Minta Aboagye, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, said sub themes centring on water resources, water supply including rural and urban, and sanitation including hygiene promotion would feature on the agenda.

A national junior water prize competition would be held as part of activities marking the forum. About 120 participants are expected.

Water and sanitation issues have been high in international circles due to the dwindling water resources of the world and it is important that Ghana is not left out in finding solutions to this important issue.
