First session of the French-Ghanaian political dialogue

Ms. Emmanuelle d’Achon, Deputy Secretary-General of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has received on October 24 a Ghanaian delegation led by her counterpart Mr. Leslie Kojo Christian, Chief Director of the Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, for the first session of the French-Ghanaian political dialogue.

This political dialogue falls within the framework of the new momentum in bilateral relationship between the two countries, following President Mahama’s visit to France in May and Ms. Hannah Tetteh’s meeting with her French counterpart Mr. Laurent Fabius, on October 10 in Paris.

The discussions focused on the major regional and African issues, notably the situation in Mali, the Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria. Global issues related to peacekeeping, the fight against climate change and la Francophonie have been raised.

Lastly, this meeting provided an opportunity to review the prospects for strengthening the bilateral relations, particularly in the economic field and in terms of supporting Ghana’s development.
