First Lady to finance construction of school at East Akyem

First Lady Dr Ernestina Naadu Mills is to finance the construction of a six-unit classroom block for the Ahwenease Kindergarten and Primary Schools in the East Akyem Municipality.

Mr. Victor Smith, the Eastern Regional Minister on Friday performed a ground breaking ceremony on behalf of the First Lady towards the construction of the project.

The GH¢190,000 project includes a sick bay and a common room.

Mr. Smith also inaugurated a six-unit classroom block for Tronto M/A primary school and an ambulance and later broke the grounds for the construction of a 10- seater toilet facility at New Tafo Zongo.

The Regional Minister performed the ceremonies when he visited the East Akyem Municipality on a familiarization tour of the area.

He said the government would do all it could to make Ghanaians comfortable by putting in place good policies and programmes.

Mr. Smith said the “Better Ghana Agenda” will continue to put in place good policies and programmes to ensure that the national cake is fairly shared.

He said the government would do everything humanly possible to fulfill its promises to the people by implementing good policies and programmes.

Mr. Smith met heads of departments in the area, where he appealed to them to eschew selfishness and personal advancement.

He said when heads of government departments only think about their personal and selfish gains, the country would not move forward as fast as it should.

The Minister later inspected on-going projects, which included a dormitory block for Kibi Senior and Technical High School, classroom and dormitory projects at Asafo Senior High School (SHS) and the Asafo – Kukurantumi road.

He also interacted with the chiefs and people of the New Tafo Zongo and staff of the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) at Tafo.**
