The first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo has finally met Nancy Abu-Bonsrah, the first black female neurosurgery resident at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Nancy became known after she had the opportunity to be a resident neurosurgery resident the John Hopkins hospital. Her feat which was widely reported by both local and international media won her a national recognition.
In announcing their meeting through a post on her official Instagram page, the first lady indicated that “I had the pleasure of meeting Nancy Abu-Bonsrah, who is the first black female neurosurgery resident at Johns Hopkins Hospital”.
She further mentioned that she was happy with the future of the Ghanaian and was hopeful that the opportunity she has had will have a trickling effect on the country.
She posted “Proudly Ghanaian, she is excited for the possibilities ahead for Ghanaian neurosurgery long term and mentoring girls and women in the sciences, technology and medicine”.
