First Lady Leaves For UNESCO Conference In USA

The First Lady, Her Excellency Dr. (Mrs.) Ernestina Naadu Mills leaves Accra tomorrow, Tuesday, June 26, 2012 for Maryland, USA to attend the 2012 edition of the UNESCO Youth Infusion Conference for young leaders.

The event will be hosted by the UNESCO Centre for Peace (UCP) and will create the conditions for dialogue among civilizations, cultures and peoples, based upon respect for commonly shared values. It is through this dialogue that the world can achieve global visions of sustainable development encompassing observance of human rights, mutual respect and the alleviation of poverty, all of which are at the heart of UNESCO’S mission and activities.

The First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Naadu Mills will use the conference to develop a more collaborated effort to bring effective change to youth in various ways in Ghana.

She will also highlight some of her efforts aimed at promoting education in Ghana especially the girl child.

Her Excellency the First Lady is expected back home on Wednesday July 04, 2012.
