First graduation of Kings and Queens International School held in Kumasi

Kumasi, Aug 18, GNA – The Ghana Education Service (GES) has given the approval to the Kings and Queens International School at Adukrom in the Kumasi metropolis to establish a Junior Secondary School (JSS) with effect from this academic year.

In furtherance of this, a block of three classrooms has been constructed by the management of the school to enable academic work to take off smoothly.

Mrs Beatrice Ohemeng, Owner of the school, disclosed this at the first graduation day of 84 kindergarten and 24 primary six pupils of the school in Kumasi on Thursday.

She said the aim of establishing the school was to help train children in their formative years so that they could get a good foundation from the pre-school level.

Mrs Ohemeng said the good performance of school children depended on their good foundation at the pre-school level and therefore advised parents and guardians to pay particular attention to their children at that level.

She said the school, which was established in 1999 initially with only 18 children, now had 970 children at both the kindergarten and primary levels.

She commended the staff and teachers of the school for their immense contributions, which she said, had led to the development of the school.

Mr Kwabena Amoah, Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school, said the PTA had plans to purchase a bus for the school. Hajia Afua Mamuna, a trader, who presided at the function, appealed to parents and guardians to take advantage of the excellent facilities at the school including computer services, good recreational grounds and others and patronise the school.
