First female MCE for Bawku confirmed

Members of the Bawku Municipal Assembly in the Upper East Region have confirmed Hajia Hawa Ninchemah as the Chief Executive for the assembly. Hajia Ninchemah who was rejected by the assembly at the first attempt, polled 23 out of 28 votes last Friday, representing 82 per cent.

She becomes the first female chief executive of the Bawku Municipal Assembly. She thanked President Akufo-Addo for the confidence reposed in her, and has promised to work with the assembly members for the development of the municipality.

Hajia Ninchemah said he would run an all-inclusive and transparent administration devoid of any victimisation.

“I shall endeavor to run an open door system of administration where the views, opinions and suggestions of all shall be taken into consideration, and accept constructive criticisms aimed at the development of the Municipality,” she said The MCE said would work closely with key shareholders to ensure a successful implementation of government’s socio-economic interventions such as the One District, One Factory, One Village One Dam, Free SHS, Plating for Food and Jobs.

Hajia Ninchemah was a deputy in charge of finance and administration at the Ghana Education Service in Bawku and a member of the inter- ethnic peace council in Bawku. Upper East Regional Minister, Rockson Bukari, who sworn Hajia Ninchemah into office commended the assembly members endorsing the President’s nominee, and urged them to offer their support to the new MCE.

He described Hajia Ninchemah as a hard working servant capable of transforming the municipality but cautioned her to be accountable to the people.
