First Family Donate To Alma Mater

Accra,(Greater Accra Region) 15 Oct. President Jerry John Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu, today presented electrical items worth 18,000 dollars to Achimota Secondary School. The items, made up a satellite dish, a 42-inch colour television and a decoder is to help the school, which is their Alma Mater, in its educational activities. Mr. Victor Smith, Personal Assistant to the first lady, who presented the items, said the donation was in fulfilment of part of their commitment to improve on standards in the school. Mrs. Charlotte Brew-Graves, headmistress, received the items and thanked them for the gesture. She recounted several other donations made to the school by them including three pianos, curtains and a cash prize of 500,000 cedis presented to the winner of a choral competition organized by the school. Mrs. Brew-Graves said the pledge and commitment by the President and his wife should be emulated by old students of the school.
