Accra, March 25, GNA – The first batch of 450 police recruits have reported at three police training schools to begin their professional training, a statement from the Ghana Police Service in Accra said on Friday.
The statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Cephas Arthur, Acting Director of Public Affairs, said the recruits reported, on Thursday, at the National Police Training School, Accra, Regional Police Training School, Koforidua and Regional Training School, Ho. The Police Administration assured the public and candidates who have passed the examination but have not yet been invited for medical examination that they would have their turn. It said parts of the recruitment exercise, especially the medical examination and training stages, were done in batches to ensure a thorough and effective process.
“Candidates are, therefore, being called upon to exercise patience, as they will soon have their turn,” the statement said. The statement quoted the Commanding Officer of the National Police Training School, ACP James Abass Abaa, as saying that the training schools were ready to receive and give the recruits a sound training, adding that the requisite facilities in the training schools had been improved.
He said the skills of staff, in both teaching and drill, had been upgraded to ensure quality training. The Police Administration cautioned the public to report characters who would present themselves as agents of the Police Service mandated to recruit candidates on its behalf. 25 March 11
