Firemen Insured for Life

The management of State Insurance Corporation Ltd (SIC) last Friday presented a Group Life Insurance Cover to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Accra.

The insurance policy is designed to cover personal accident and life insurance cover.

The personal accident insurance scheme attracts ?5 million payment and the life insurance, ?2 million for the family.

Both senior and junior personnel of the service enjoy the same benefit from the insurance scheme after paying a monthly premium of ?25,000.

Mr. Daniel Soadzedey, Deputy Managing Director, SIC, said the insurance policy would be run by officers chosen from GNFS management.

He said the new management team of SIC is “geared to deliver and we can assure you that the necessary structures have been put in place to handle all types of insurance risks countrywide.”

He expressed concern about the loss of lives of firemen and women who stake their lives to save the economic base of the nation. “When lives are lost, the very fabric of families are destroyed. Spouses and children become destitute.”

He announced that SIC management has approved a donation of ?3 million towards the Fire Service Annual Fun Games.

The management of SIC later presented the Death Benefits of three servicemen who were part of the scheme and had lost their lives. Mr. Elias Adablamu, Chief Fire Officer said, “with the new policy personnel are better covered. We are also saving for a rainy day.” He said GNFS would present 2000 certificates to the policy holders.
