A total of 30 health officers at the Koforidua Regional Hospital have undergone a training programme on ensuring fire safety at the hospital and in their homes.
Participants included nurses, doctors, technicians, administrative and auxiliary staff of the hospital.
They were trained in various topics concerning fire prevention and how to effectively use the various shades of fire extinguishers.
The Resource Person, Mr Ato Korsah, a Fire Officer at the Eastern Regional Fire Service, said “at your work places or offices, at your homes, at church, hotels among others; remember to be fire sensitive at all times”.
Mr Korsah urged them to ensure that they taught their children and relations the knowledge they had gained and help spread the fire prevention message.
“Equipment for your safety is expensive and intangible but do not let that scare you from getting them near you, think about their importance,” he said.
The Fire officer also entreated potential house owners to seek advice from experts, which include the Fire Service, before beginning the construction of their buildings.
