Fire outbreak at Unilever Laboratory Tema

Tema, June 15, GNA – Fire swept though the laboratory of Unilever, Ghana, in Tema on Monday morning destroying quantities of Pepsodent toothpaste. There were no casualties.

Mr Prince Billy Anaglate, Tema Regional Fire Service Public Relations Officer, told the GNA that his men rushed to the scene on receiving a call about the fire and brought it under control in 30 minutes.

He said there was smoke from an air conditioner followed by fire. Mr Anaglate expressed disappointment about the attitude of workers of Unilever, especially the security men, who refused the Tema Regional Fire Officer, Mr Kwabena Korang and some journalists, entry into the Tema Regional Plant.

He said not even the introduction of the Fire Officer, who was in uniform, could convince them to allow him entry. Attempts to get the Corporate Relations Officer for comments were unsuccessful.
