Fire gutted electrical shops at Suhum

Suhum, March 02, GNA – Fire on Tuesday gutted three fitting and electrical workshops at Suhum, reducing to ashes machines. Mr Ofosu Boateng and Mr David Awuku, owners of the workshops, told the Ghana News Agency that two apprentices who were sleeping in one of them escaped unhurt. They said the fire destroyed weeding machines, grinding machine, electrical wires, one saloon car, two light poles, three kiosks and gas bottles.

Mr Ofosu Boateng said the fire started at midnight and was detected by people in the area who raised the alarm and called the Fire Service station in the town. He said because the Suhum Fire Service Station had no fire tenders, they could not fight the fire and that it took volunteers three hours to bring the fire under control.
