Fire guts widow’s house at Acherensua

Acherensua (B/A), May 04, GNA – Cash and properties worth millions of cedis perished when the house of a 62-year-old widow caught fire at Acherensua in the Asutifi North district of the Brong-Ahafo Region.

The whole compound house consisting of about 14 rooms was razed down by the terrible blaze the cause of which is yet to be established. There were neither deaths nor casualties. Madam Yaa Agyemang who took the GNA and some National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) officials round the heaped debris of the house which has been burnt to char, said she lived in that house with her husband who died 20 years ago and left the house for her and his 20 surviving children.

“With the current disaster, I have no where to lay my head. All my capital plus properties I have acquired since I married in my youthful age are all gone”, she said tears rolling down her cheeks.

Meanwhile, the district NADMO had donated a quantity of cooking oil, two bags of rice and some blankets to Madam Agyemang. She is currently putting up with a sympathizer in the town.
