On Friday February 26, International music icon who goes by the name, Papa Sheee and his family woke up from bed engulfed in flames of fire that had started from the apartment right above theirs. Papa Sheee’s apartment caved in from above and in the process his apartment got lit by the fire. In an interview with the Afrikan Post he said “At around 8.45 am I heard a big explosion like a bomb blast and woke up only to find fire coming down into my apartment. I hurriedly rushed out with my family helplessly.”
Asked if he could retrieve any of his belongings from the apartment he said “The fire was such that I lost everything. My musical equipments, my living and dining room furniture, my 52 inch television and everything I had in there is lost.”
The Prince William County fire department was on hand to control the fire but it was only after the fire had taken its toll on everything in the building.
The fire apparently started from the apartment building above the one Papa Sheee lives in. What caused the fire outbreak has not been confirmed yet.
By 10 am on Friday there were Television Camera’s from the various TV networks conducting interviews with residents. Ambulances were on hand as well.
When Papa Sheee was reached on the phone he had apparently inhaled a lot of smoke from the fire and had lost his voice. He sounded very faint as if he had lost his voice. Mr. CNN of 3G media rushed in from Philadelphia to see him and console his family, Mr. CNN informed his co publisher of the Afrikan Post to interview the ace musician.
On Monday March 1st when Afrikan Post called to check on him he had just returned from the Doctor’s office where he reported for medical examination.
Calls have been pouring in from well wishers all over the United States and Europe. Peace fm, the number one Akan Station in Ghana also called to check on the ace musician.
Papa Sheee and his family have been relocated to another apartment close by .
He released his latest album close to the end of 209 and the album has been enjoying considerable airtime in Ghana and Europe.
He owns a fabric and entertainment center in Hyattsville, Maryland
