Fire guts NABISCO, 3 injured

Three male students of the Northern School of Business (NABISCO) in Tamale have reportedly been injured on Thursday when fire gutted the school’s boys dormitory block and caused massive damage to the structure.

The incident happened about 8:am whiles lesson was in session today and according to Ultimate News sources compelled authorities of the school to send home temporarily some boarding students

A student told Ultimate News that his colleague suffered the minor injuries when they rushed out from their classrooms into the burning dorm to salvage their belongings

Narrating the incident further the Northern regional public relations fire officer Paul Aikens said the fire had ravaged the dorm before firefighters got to the scene

According to him the inferno caused damaged to about 17 student wooden beds with mattresses, books and large chunk of students chop boxes

Officer Aikens said even though investigation has been launched into the incident, he believes the incident was triggered by faulty electrical gadgets

“The duty officer has not come out with the cause of the fire but per my experiences I removed the fusses and found that the wire of one of the fuss had got broken which means that possibly there might be faulty gadget in use when it triggered it went to the fuss, one of the fuss got broken and the one couldn’t break and which means there might experience a flow back and that started the fire”, the spokesperson explained

He, therefore, advised schools to adhere to safety regulations and avoid connecting electricity illegally.
