Fire guts house at Sansama

Techiman (B/A) March 1, (Solomon Naambir) GNA – A six-room self-contained house belonging to Mr George Amoako, resident in Germany, was gutted by fire at Sansama, near Techiman.

Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service are investigating the cause of the fire, suspected to be caused by an electrical fault. Madam Philomena Serwaa, a trader and occupant of the house told the Ghana News Agency that the incident occurred whilst she was away at the market selling her goods.

She said some residents her neighbourhood informed her about the incident at about 1600 hours, adding that personal belongings estimated at 40 million cedis and a cash of four million cedis were lost to the fire.

Mr Alfred Armah, Techiman Municipal Assistant Station Fire Officer, confirmed the incident and said they were informed about the incident at about 1630 hours but before they got to the spot there the whole house was engulfed by the fire and all attempts to put it off proved futile.
