Fire guts gov’t quarters at Airport

Fire gutted the top floor of a 2 storey house at the Airport Residential Area on Monday, leaving occupants of the top floor currently homeless.

But for the timely intervention of the fire service, the entire building could have been razed.

The house which is a government quarters, had most of its occupants who are civil servants out of the building when the fire occurred.

The Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service, Billy Anaglatey, who was at the scenes said the cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet.

He, however, said that their checks revealed that the building was unsafe for habitation.
