Kumasi, March 16, GNA – Fire has gutted the Anloga Wood Market destroying property worth thousands of Ghana cedis. About eight stores containing plywood, beams, packets of nails, louver blades and quantities of hardware got burnt in the process. Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after a tour of the market, Togbui Mawufeame Fugah, Life Patron of the Anloga Wood Workers Association, said the fire broke out at about 0200 hours on Sunday and that the cause of the outbreak was not known.

“I was informed of the outbreak immediately the fire started and when I arrived at the scene, I saw the affected stores on fire”, he said. He said no casualty was recorded and commended the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for their swift response, adding that without the GNFS a lot more damage could have been caused. The Oforikrom police confirmed the incident and said they were collaborating with the GNFS to investigate the incident.
