Fire guts 60-acre cashew plantation at Subinso

Subinso (B/A), Jan. 23, GNA – A 60-acre cashew plantation belonging to Mr. D.A. Domfeh, former Wenchi District Chief Executive, was destroyed by fire at Subinso Number One.

Mr Domfeh conducted newsmen round the burnt plantation, which he valued at several millions of cedis.

He expressed dismay about how the fire could destroy the plantation in spite of a fire-belt around it and called on the Fire Service and the Police to investigate the cause of the fire.

Mr Domfeh stressed the need to resource the National Commission for Civic Education and fire volunteers to be able to intensify the education of the people on the bushfire menace and to arrest and prosecute game hunters.

He appealed to philanthropic organizations and the government to help him to rehabilitate the plantation.
