Fire destroys two compound houses at Kpatia

Kpatia, Jan 11, GNA – Twenty nine (29) people have been rendered homeless at Kpatia in the Yendi District of Northern Region, when fire gutted their two compound houses at the weekend. The fire also destroyed food items and other property worth about 40 million cedis.

The Yendi District Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Alhaji Hammed Abubakari Kums who inspected the disaster scene, presented relief items to the victims. The items comprised eight mattresses, six buckets, one bundle of used clothing’s and 12 buckets.

The landlord of the Mallam Alhassan Bukari said the fire, which started at about 10.20 hours caused extensive damage before personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service arrived at the scene.
